November Nostalgia - A Peek-a-Boo Project

November has always been associated with Thanksgiving in the United States. It's a time for families to come together and enjoy a festive feast.

It was so much fun to look through my gifted Jack and Jill and Children’s Activities magazines from the 1950s to see what Thanksgiving was like back then. They are like treasure troves of heartwarming Thanksgiving and Autumn stories, delightful activities, and charming graphics that can bring out the child in all of us.

The covers feature delightful graphics that take us back to fond memories of days gone by.

The illustrations inside are equally enchanting, although agreeably a bit dated. But definitely not AI generated.

There's also a mini cookbook included, featuring recipes for a complete meal and additional dishes.

After the meal, there are craft ideas to keep the children busy. Back then, some would be watching football, although it was less likely on a color television set.

If crafts weren't your thing, there were stories and poetry to entertain you, riddles  and quizzes to test your brains,  or you could have a delightful sing-along around the piano.

The included calendars are fantastic and can even double as coloring pages.

I don't believe this advertisement would be acceptable in today’s magazines
